Q:自主學習書院通識課程是什麼課程?
A:為發展書院通識特色課程,培養學生自主學習、問題解決及跨領域實作等綜合能力,提供學生主動規劃發展課程之機會,建立師生共學校園文化,依申請方式分為「開課型」及「認證型」二類自主學習。
Q:可以認定為通識學分嗎?
A:依據「國立政治大學通識教育課程實施準則」,修畢自主學習書院通識課程可以認定為「書院通識」學分,上限 3 學分。
Q:「開課型」及「認證型」二類自主學習有什麼不同?
A:「開課型」自主學習課程係指學習內容與方式由學生自主規劃,或師生共同規劃設計之課程,比照新開通識課程申請開課;「認證型」自主學習係為鼓勵學生發展問題解決和創新實踐能力,得經相關領域教師輔導或獨立完成學習計畫,學習場域不限於校內。
「開課型」自主學習課程
Q:如何申請開課?
A:填寫募課申請書及新開通識申請表,並檢附籌備會議紀錄送交通識教育中心,另請留意後續會議審查時需派代表到場說明。每年 3 月、10 月受理開課申請,截止日期請留意教務處網頁公告,或可洽詢通識教育中心承辦人。
Q:開課是否有人數限制?
A:一人即可提出申請,通過後列入選課系統開放全校同學選課,選課人數達七人方可成功開課。
Q:每門課程學分數是多少?
A:每門課程學分數為一至二學分,由師生共同規劃決定。
Q:成績如何計算呢?
A:依本校相關規定採「通過或不通過」或「等第制」,可由師生討論議定;惟「自主學習」課程完成後,需進行成果發表並提交成果報告,形式可以為文件、相片、影音、表演、展覽、設計成品等。
Q:課程師資來源?
A:課程需邀請本校專兼任教師或具教師資格之專任研究人員擔任開課教師,另得視需要邀請校外教師、業師指導,指導時數與方式需有指導紀錄供本中心備查。
Q:課程中若有安排校外教師、業師指導或安排演講等需要,相關費用如何支應?
A:每門課程預算上限以教授授課鐘點費乘以學分數乘以上課週數計,經費運用由師生共同討論議定。
Q:可以半途放棄嗎?
A:如無法完成課程,請依照一般課程棄修規定辦理。
「認證型」自主學習課程
Q:如何申請認證?
A:採事先登記,事後認證。事先填寫 Google 表單報備(https://forms.gle/kQB3AH7JRmNYhPkr7),於學習計畫完成後進行成果發表並檢具學習檔案,每年 3 月、10 月受理學分認證申請,截止日期請留意教務處網頁公告,或可洽詢通識教育中心承辦人。
Q:規劃認證型自主學習計畫有哪些注意事項?
A:認證型自主學習分為社會實踐類、學術探索類及創新實作類,不限制其方式、場域及時程,可以參與校內外各式計畫,也可以是課程所學的延伸,亦或是您有興趣深入學習的主題,每個學習規劃以 2 人以上為原則。若您想執行認證型自主學習,建議可以先與校內教師(或班級導師)商談討論,也有利於後續順利進行喔!
Q:申請認證通識學分有哪些條件?
A:認證以一學分為基本單位,採計上限二學分,申請認證須進行成果發表並檢具學習檔案。成果發表可以選擇自行公開發表,或參加通識中心自主學習期末聯合成果展;學習檔案則須包含以下四點:學習目標、方法與過程、成果及個人反思,並檢附佐證資料。
Q:學習過程中需要協助,該怎麼辦?
A:有任何問題,都可以與指導教師或通識中心商談。如有需要,通識中心也可代為宣傳方便找到合適的夥伴共同執行,或尋找各項資源之訊息。

Q: What is a self-directed learning college general course?
A: The University provides opportunities for students to proactively design courses to develop distinctive college general education courses, foster students’ comprehensive abilities in self-directed learning, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary practice, and establish a campus culture of collaborative learning among faculty and students. Based on the application method, there are two types of self-directed learning courses: “course-based” and “certification-based.”
Q: Can it be recognized as general education credits?
A: According to the National Chengchi University Regulations for General Education Courses, a completed self-directed learning college general education course can be recognized as a “College General Education Course,” up to a maximum of 3 credits.
Q: What are the differences between “Course-Based” and “Certification-Based” self-directed learning courses?
A: “Course-based” self-directed learning courses refer to courses in which the content and method of learning are designed by students or jointly by the instructor and students. The application for opening a course-based self-directing learning course is the same as the application for opening a new general education course. “Certification-based” self-directed learning encourages students to develop skills in problem-solving and innovative practice, allowing them to complete learning projects independently or under the guidance of faculty in the relevant field(s), with learning venues not limited to the campus.

Q: How to apply for opening a course?
A: Fill in the course proposal form and the new general education application form, attach preparatory meeting minutes, and submit the application materials to the Center of General Education. Please note that the representative(s) of the applicant(s) need(s) to be present for inquiries at the review meeting. The application for opening courses is accepted in March and October each year. Please pay attention to the announcement on the website of the Office of Academic Affairs or contact the person in charge at the Center of General Education for the application deadline.
Q: Is there a limit on the number of participants?
A: The application should be submitted by one or more students. Once approved, the course will be listed in the course selection system and open to all students to select. The course can be successfully opened only if there are seven or more enrolled students.
Q: How many credits does each course have?
A: Each course has one to two credits, determined jointly by the instructor and the students.
Q: How are the grades calculated?
A: According to relevant regulations of the University, the learning performance can be graded based on a "pass/fail" or “letter grade” system, as discussed and agreed upon by the instructor and the students. The final presentation which can be in the forms of documents, photos, videos, performances, exhibitions, design products, etc. is required upon course completion. The final report needs to be submitted to the Center of General Education as well.
Q: What are the sources of course instructors?
A: The course requires a full-time or part-time faculty of the University or a full-time researcher with teaching qualifications to be the course instructor. Off-campus instructors or industry professionals may be invited if necessary, with records of guidance hours and methods to be kept for review by the Center.
Q: How will the related expenses be covered for arranging off-campus instructors or industry professionals for instruction or lectures?
A: The budget limit for each course is calculated based on a full professor's hourly teaching fee multiplied
by the number of course credits and the number of weeks the class is held. The use of funds is subject to mutual agreement among the course instructor and the students.
Q: Is it possible to withdraw from the course midway?
A: Yes. If you cannot complete the course, please proceed according to the general course withdrawal regulations.
“Certification-based" Self-directed Learning Course
Q: How to apply for certification?
A: Sign-up is required, followed by certification after the completion of the learning project. Please fill out the Google Form (https://forms.gle/kQB3AH7JRmNYhPkr7) before the beginning of the learning project, present the results after completing the learning project, and submit the learning portfolio for credit certification. Applications for credit certification are accepted in March and October each year. Please pay attention to the announcement on the website of the Office of Academic Affairs or contact the person in charge at the Center of General Education for the application deadline.
Q: What should be noted when planning a certification-based self-directed learning project?
A: Certification-based self-directed courses are categorized into social practice, academic exploration, and innovation implementation. There are no restrictions on methods, venues, or schedules. It may involve participation in various kinds of projects both on and off campus, the extension of course learning, or the topics you are interested in deepening your knowledge about. In principle, there are at least two students in a learning project. If you considering applying for a certification-based self-directed learning course, it is advisable to discuss with a faculty member (or your mentor) first to facilitate your project progression.
Q: What are the requirements for certifying the general education credits?
A: The basic credit unit of a certification-based self-directed learning course is one credit, with a maximum of two credits per application. The applicant must present his or her project results and submit a learning portfolio. Project results can be publicly presented or showcased in the Center of General Education Center’s end-of-semester joint exhibition. The learning portfolio should include the following four components: learning objectives, method(s) and process(es), outcomes, personal reflections, and supporting documents (if applicable).
Q: What should I do if I need assistance during the learning process?
A: You may discuss with your instructor or the Center of General Education for any question. If necessary, the Center of General Education can also assist by finding suitable partners for project collaboration or searching for information on various resources.
